US eCommerce spending continued to show strong momentum in Q2 2012 with 15% growth year over year, according to comScore. It didn’t quite match the high Q1 2012 growth rate, but e-commerce sales still continued to out-pace overall consumer spending by 4x showing the continued shift of customers to online shopping channels. The top-performing online product categories were digital content & subscriptions, consumer electronics, flowers, greetings & gifts, computer hardware and apparel & accessories. We are excited to see so many of our Ultimento customers in these high-growth categories!
There were increases in all eCommerce metrics over Q2 2011. Average transaction size increased 6% to $70 per order, number of transactions were up 8%, and number of transactions per buyer were up 3%. There are several other interesting eCommerce related data points can be found on comScore’s site.
